EU alternatives test group to validate method for in vitro identification of androgenic chemicals
The European Union Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing (Eurl Ecvam) has announced its intention to carry out a validation study to assess the reliability and accuracy of selected in vitro test methods for identifying chemicals with androgenic and anti-androgenic properties. The study is to focus on Androgen Receptor Transactivation Assays (ARTA), a test that relies on genetically engineered cell lines, which luminesce in response to androgenic signals. The eventual aim of the study is to propose the use of ARTA test methods in the OECD Test Guidelines Programme. Eurl Ecvam is currently calling for tenders for the provision of testing services. The deadline for their submission is 11 October. Further information is available at: Validation Study Info
