NSC Becomes an Affiliate of the NIOSH Total Worker Health Program

The National Security Council (NSC) has become the seventh organisation to join the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health’s (NIOSH) Total Worker Health Affiliate Program, according to a news release. The program focuses on increasing the number of work environments that support the integration of occupational safety and health protection with health promotion. “Eleven Americans die at work each day, which is tragic and unacceptable,” said Jim Johnson, vice president of workplace safety initiatives at NSC. “Establishing safer workplaces and preventing deaths and injuries is a complex issue that requires a cadre of individuals and organisations. The NIOSH program is an archetypal example of collaboration and cooperation, and we are pleased to partner with organisations that share the Council’s mission on saving lives.” The council aims to do the following: Increase visibility of TWH programs; help other organisations develop a plan for creating safer workplaces based on the most current research; and publicly recognise organisations that help others create safety cultures that are grounded in research.
