Taiwan Revised Food Utensils, Containers and Packaging Testing Methods

On 29 April 2015, Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) released the revised “Methods of Test for Food Utensils, Containers and Packages – Test of Glass, Porcelain and Enamelled Products” (MOHWU0009.02), which became effective as of the date of announcement. These testing methods were implemented on 26 May 2004 and amended for the first time on 6 Sep 2013. This is the second revision. The main changes are detailed as follows:

  1. English Name: The original English name is “Methodof Test for Food Utensils, Containers and Packages – Test of Glass, Porcelain and Enamelled Products”
  2. Testing of Pb and Cd (Dissolution test): Add specifications concerning furnace, hot plate, storage bottles, and preparation of nitric acid solution; Amend preparation requirements of reagents, standard solution; Amendment to the calculation method used for determination of Pb and Cd content.
