Joint campaign with European trade unions on the REACH 2013 registration deadline

At the eighth seminar on Workers’ Protection and Chemicals taking place in Brussels (26-27 June), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European trade union IndustriAll launched a joint campaign with ECHA and the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA). Using the slogan of ECHA’s ‘REACH 2013 – Act Now!’ campaign, ETUC and IndustriAll call on worker representatives in companies manufacturing, importing or using chemical substances to act as ambassadors of REACH in their companies. For that purpose, they are asked to pass on a new information leaflet, prepared in collaboration with ECHA, to their employers alerting them on their legal duties and the urgency of the 2013 registration deadline. This campaign calls on worker representatives to act as ambassadors for REACH in their companies to ensure timely registration for the REACH 2013 deadline. It also raises awareness about the new elements in the safety data sheets that aim to enhance the protection of workers. The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European trade union IndustriAll have launched this joint campaign with ECHA and the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA). The campaign builds upon the success of the first joint campaign on REACH and CLP implemented in 2010. Further information is available at: ETUC press release
