By the end of 2017, a revision to the Belgian Royal Decree on nano registry will be signed, postponing the requirement to register mixtures containing nanomaterials until 1 January 2018. The Royal Decree on nano registry requires companies in Belgium to register the nanomaterials they place on the market, exclusively to professional users (ie. not for consumer use only), using the Nano Registry. Substances produced in nanoparticular state (for example, Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide) had to be registered before 1 January 2016, while mixtures containing such substances (for example, paints and sun creams) previously had to be registered before 1 January 2017. The registration must be updated annually, before 31 March each calendar year, and it is possible to register products individually, or as a group.
