Chemicals Selected by OEHHA for Consideration for Listing by the Dart Identification Committee and Request for Relevant Information on the Reproductive Toxicity Hazards of: N-Hexane, Nickel and nickel Compounds, PFOA and PFOS and their Salts

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has selected the chemicals below for the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee’s (DARTIC) review for possible listing under Proposition 65. OEHHA is initiating the development of hazard identification materials on these chemicals.

Chemicals Selected for Preparation of Reproductive Toxicity Hazard Identification Materials

Chemical CAS No.
n-Hexane 110-54-3
Nickel and Nickel Compounds
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and its salts

These chemicals were selected using the procedure described in the document:“Process for Prioritising Chemicals for Consideration under Proposition 65 by the State’s Qualified Experts.”This document isavailable here. OEHHA selected these chemicals following consultation with theDARTIC in November 2015. Hazard identification materials for these chemicals will be presented at future meetings of the DARTIC for consideration of listing of the chemicals. OEHHA are now seeking information relevant to the assessment of the evidence of developmental and male and female reproductive toxicity for n-hexane, nickel and nickel compounds, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts, and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and its salts. Interested parties wishing to provide such information should submit it to the Agency by 4 April 2016.The information received during this period will be reviewed and considered by OEHHA as it prepares the reproductive toxicity hazard identification materials on these chemicals.Hazard identification materials are made available to the public for comment prior to the DARTIC’s consideration of the chemical(s) for listing. The availability of the hazard identification materials will be announced in theCalifornia Regulatory Notice Registerand on OEHHA’s website. Public comments received on these materials are sent to the DARTIC for its consideration prior to the meeting at which the chemical(s) will be considered for listing. OEHHA announces the time, date, location, and agenda of DARTIC meetings in theCalifornia Regulatory Notice Registerand on its website.
