KEMI PRIO Database updated

On 13 July 2017, the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) updated their PRIO Database. The following substance was added:

  • Perfluorohexane-1-sulfonic acid (PFHxS) and its salts [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][CAS# 355-46-4]

The following substance had a new assessment:

  • Phenol, 4,4’-(1-methylethylidene)bis-[CAS# 80-05-7]

The purpose of the PRIO (Priority Setting Guide) tool is to help reduce health and environmental risks from chemical substances by identifying the need for risk reduction for both Swedish actors and chemical suppliers to Sweden in other countries. Contained within PRIO is a database containing examples of chemicals of high concern to human health and the environment, divided according to two levels of prioritisation depending on various criteria based upon the environmental quality objective that aims to achieve a “Non-Toxic Environment” by 2020 (as adopted by Swedish parliament). To establish whether a substance fulfils the criteria, a comparison is made on the basis of available test data and/or other information on the substance.
