New tool for categorising polymers under the NICNAS reforms

The National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) has released a new polymer categorisation tool, which has been developed to help you understand how the health and environment hazards of polymers would be categorised in Australia under proposed NICNAS reforms. The reforms propose a more risk-based and proportionate approach to the regulation of new polymers, which aligns NICNAS requirements more closely with the regulatory schemes of Canada and the United States. In addition, the agency has improved the chemical categorisation tools in response to user feedback and changes presented in NICNAS Reforms Consultation Paper 3. For more information about the categorisation tools or the NICNAS reforms, please contact the NICNAS reforms team.
