We have released the draft PEC report on tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) for public comment under Section 60E of the ICNA Act.

About this draft PEC report

The focus of our draft report is on our assessment of risks to:

workers handling TBBPA or its products

the general public coming in contact directly or indirectly with articles containing TBBPA and

to the environment.

Our draft report makes recommendations to reduce the risks identified for workers, general public and for the environment.

Under Section 60D of the ICNA Act, we have already provided the draft PEC report to applicants for a period of 28 days to allow them to request correction of any errors in the report. Where appropriate, we have made corrections to the report based on applicant requests.

Request a variation to this report

You can request a written variation to the draft report based on the available evidence that we may not have already considered in the draft report.

Completing the application

When requesting the variation, please use our Application for Variation form (Form 4a):

outlining any amendment or change(s) requested

identifying the exact words, sentences or paragraphs in the report to be varied, and must propose replacement words, sentences or paragraphs

explaining the rationale behind the request and include any relevant evidence and references, and

providing copies or links to the relevant references.

Due date for variation requests

5.30pm on 4 May 2020 (there is a 28 day statutory deadline for submission of variation requests). You cannot request and we can’t provide extensions, in accordance with the ICNA Act (refer section 60E(2) of the ICNA Act).
