South Korea Outlines Supporting Regulations to K-REACH

On 16 October 2018, the revised Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemical Substances (K-REACH) was promulgated as Law No.15844. The new requirements will come into force on 1 January 2019. To facilitate the smooth implementation of the revised K-REACH, South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) issued a notice consolidating relevant supporting documentation of K-REACH, including:

However, the most important K-REACH subordinate statutes, namely the Presidential Decree (also known as the Enforcement Decree) and the Ministerial Decree (also known as the Enforcement Rules) which elucidate the registration and evaluation details are still undergoing public consultation which will end on 26 November 2018. As planned, they will be finalised in December.
