Conclusion on the peer review of the pesticide risk assessment of the active substance tau-fluvalinate

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has been requested to conduct a focused peer review in the areas of mammalian toxicology and ecotoxicology and deliver its conclusions on tau-fluvalinate. The conclusions are reached on the basis of the evaluation of the representative uses of tau-fluvalinate as an insecticide and acaricide on potatoes and wheat. A high risk is indicated for the aquatic environment and for non-target arthropods for both representative uses. Uncertainties remain with regard to the refinement of the risk assessment for small herbivorous mammals for the use in winter wheat. The risk to birds, bees, earthworms, soil-dwelling arthropods, soil macro- and micro-organisms, nontarget plants and biological methods of sewage treatment is assessed as low.
