Pre-assessment of occupational hazards in polysilicon production project

The objective of this study was to identify and analyse occupational hazards in the polysilicon production project, and predict the category and risk degree of occupational hazards. The methods of experience, analogy and comprehensive analysis were applied to evaluate the enterprise with the similar project. The results showed that about 20 kinds of occupational hazard factors existed in the production process, which including noise, high temperature, heat radiation, dust, chlorine, hydrogen chloride, trichlorosilane, dichlorosilane, silicon tetrachloride, sodium hydroxide , hydrogen fluoride, nitric acid and ethylene glycol. Six points of noise were monitored with the values between 74dB(A) and 84 dB(A), which accorded with national allowable limits. The site selection, overall layout, protective measures for occupational diseases, hygiene auxiliary rooms, personal protection equipments, management and emergency measures met the requirements of national standards. The authors concluded that the occupational diseases should be prevented and controlled in the project, if all the occupational health managements and protection facilities are carefully earned out.
