Amendment of the Inventory

In the May edition of the Chemical Gazette, the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) published a notice to amend the Australian Inventory of Chemical Substances (the Inventory) for 2 substances. The substance hexanedioic acid ethane polyesterdiol (Table 1) was nominated during the initial compilation of the Inventory. The nominated chemical name had not been issued by the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) and the chemical did not have a CAS Registry Number (CAS RN) or molecular formula. NICNAS have recently identified and received confirmation from CAS that this substance is represented by CAS RN 24938-37-2. However, the substance with this CAS number, CAS name and molecular formula is already listed on the Inventory from another nomination. Therefore, hexanedioic acid ethane polyesterdiol was removed from the Inventory and the entry for the substance with the correct details is retained on the Inventory.

The substance in Table 2 was also nominated during the initial compilation of the Inventory with a chemical name that had not been issued by the CAS. The chemical did not have a CAS RN or molecular formula. We have recently identified and received confirmation from CAS that the substance is represented by CAS RN 25931-01-5. We have amended the Inventory listing to add the CAS name, CAS number and molecular formula of the substance.

These amendments do not change the identities of the chemical substances.
