Hong Kong updates toy and children’s product standards

Hong Kong has amended its toy and children’s products safety Ordinance to keep it up to date with international standards. The updated standards include tests relating to:

  • hazardous substances;
  • plasticisers;
  • n-nitrosamines;
  • n-nitrosatable substances; and
  • lead.

Changes are according to product group, with the full list in the table below. The update was published in the government Gazette on 6 April. The standards will come into force on 1 August. The Ordinance was implemented on 1 July 1993 and last updated in May last year.
