South Korea revises Toxic Chemical Substances List

In April 2018, the South Korea Toxic Chemical Substances List was updated in accordance with a revision published in the official gazette, adding 9 substances. The following 9 substances were added to the list:

  • N,N-Dimethyl-N-[3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyl]-1-octadecanaminium, chloride (1:1) [CAS# 199111-50-7]
  • 2-Methyl-1,4-naphthalenedione [CAS# 58-27-5]
  • 2,3-Dibromopropanoic acid [CAS# 600-05-5]
  • N-(2-Aminoethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine reaction products with glycidyl tolyl ether [CAS# 84144-79-6]

Any person who intends to manufacture or import toxic substances in South Korea must report to the South Korea Ministry of Environment (MOE): the identity of the substance under observation, estimated quantity of manufacture or importation, major uses etc. The identity of the substance must be specifically labelled on its packaging and the business itself must be registered.
